Documentaries Inspire Social Responsibility, and Literacy in Kids!

This past term we conducted a documentary class with a groupof 5^th and 6^th graders. The students were required to come up with a film about atopic that was pertinent to them. One team choose NYC’s Cycle Wars, another team choose how to combat pollutionin NYC, and the final group decided to tackle how to keep drugs out of thehands of minors.

Filmmaking and its Linkages with Entrepreneurship

People ask me what I find so interesting about teaching film to kids. To be honest I just like to see what stories they come up with, and how they execute those ideas through filming and editing. The sheer act of creating is what inspires me! Take Two Film Academy offers after-school, weekend and summer classes in film-acting and making.

Film-Acting classes focus on how to behave and act in front of the camera. These courses allow student to watch and learn from their performances in real time. We focus on the difference between stage and film acting, subtlety and behavior. Students learn how to interact with one another on camera and come away with video experience, head-shot if they choose, and a DVD - online reel. We have classes for 1st-10th graders.

Filmmaking and Screenwriting Classes are team and project based classes that utilize both actors and filmmakers to script, storyboard, shoot, edit and create short films. The teams are made up of both filmmakers and some actors who work together on a project of their choice. Accomplished NYC filmmakers help guild and manage the teams to bring their vision to life. We hold classes from 4th - 10th graders.
Our new state of the art Mac Lab that has Final Cut Pro!

Documentary Classes are similar to the Filmmaking and Acting Class except there are no actors involved. Students create short documentaries in teams learning from well versed documentary filmmakers in the industry.

Editing and Greenscreen Class focus on the fundamentals of post production and effects. Learn from professionals within the industry in our state of the art Mac Lab complete with Final Cut Pro Studio.
